Busways is a leading private bus operator in Australia, committed to providing safe, reliable bus services.

Our maintenance team plays a critical role to ensure our ever-evolving fleet of vehicles is continually maintained to the highest standard to keep our employees and passengers safe out on the road.

We are always looking for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals with high quality traits to join our growing team. Busways undertakes a range of services within the workshops and are continuously looking to increase our capability and skill sets in the following roles:

  • Diesel Mechanics
  • Spray Painters
  • Panel Beaters
  • Body Builders

These roles will involve shift work. Relevant shift penalties apply.

Application process

As part of the application process, you will need to provide copies of the following documents:

  • A copy of your Birth certificate or passport
  • Copy your driver's licence
  • Additional licence details e.g. Air conditioning licence, forklift licence, crane licence

Your application will be assessed in line with predetermined job-related standards and will be compared against our selection criteria and position requirements such as, medical checks, background checks and criminal record checks to determine an outcome. You will be notified in writing of the outcome of your application.

The role of a bus driver

Bus driving is more than a profession; it's a rewarding career path where you'll play a pivotal role in fostering social inclusion, especially for those without private mobility options, including more vulnerable societal groups such as the elderly, teens, and persons with disabilities. Bus driver jobs involves shift work, school bus driver shifts, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends, offering flexibility for various lifestyles. You’ll also help contribute to facilitating economic participation for individuals reliant on public transport to access training, study, job interviews, and work opportunities.

Making sure we're a great fit

The recruitment process usually takes four to six weeks:

  1. Lodge your application with relevant documentation
  2. The screening process takes place
  3. Pre-employment assessment is conducted
  4. Work-related referees are then contacted (min. of two to be provided)
  5. A pre-employment medical is conducted

If you do not already hold a current Working with Children Check and New South Wales (NSW) Driver Authority or South Australian (SA) LP Driver accreditation, you will need to apply for these (the sooner the better).

*Timeframes below are an average estimation. They rely on you submitting and applying for the required documentation/accreditation/checks, then supplying those to Busways in a prompt and timely manner to be eligible to receive an employment offer should the application be successful.
