Tapping off cash payments - Busways' Western Sydney buses are going cashless

From Monday, October 28, Busways’ Western Sydney buses will no longer accept cash payments.

Tickets previously purchased from drivers will no longer be available and customers will need to purchase an Opal card or start using their credit or debit card to tap on and tap off during their journey. Customers can also use a device linked to one of these cards to tap on and tap off.

Opal cards are available online or over the counter from retailers, including most newsagents, post offices, convenience stores and supermarkets. Senior/Pensioner Opal cards must be ordered online and require proof of entitlement.

It is important to remember to separate your cards, so your preferred card is charged.

Drivers will no longer carry a cash float and will have more time to interact with their customers as they embark on their Busways journey.

“Going cashless will mean quicker and more efficient bus services for our customers,” Managing Director of Busways, Byron Rowe, said.
