16 July 2025
Last Saturday’s Meet the Fleet event hosted by Transport for NSW (TfNSW) at The Big Yellow Umbrella in Narellan brought the community together for a hands-on look at the future of public transport in the region.
The day kicked off with a smoking ceremony and traditional dance, followed by a welcome address from Mrs Sally Anne Quinnell, MP for Camden. She highlighted the importance of improving public transport options for local communities, setting the tone for an engaging day. The event attracted residents from Narellan and surrounding suburbs, eager to see the new buses that will soon operate on local routes.
Busways team was on hand for the community event, connecting with locals and addressing their queries regarding public transport in the region.
Visitors had the chance to explore the brand-new electric buses, with kids excited to try sitting in the driver’s seat. Busways ZEB Manager Siddharth Rallapalli chatted to locals and answered questions about how the electric buses will contribute to cleaner, quieter travel.
Busways Driver James Finch was on hand to talk with attendees curious about public transport services and career opportunities in the industry. Several young locals spoke to James about what it’s like to be a driver and how they might start a career in public transport.
Beyond the buses, families enjoyed an interactive day out, with kids climbing aboard the buses, face painting, candy floss, and a lively community BBQ. The event was a fantastic opportunity for residents to engage with their local public transport providers.
Meet the Fleet was a great success in connecting people with their local transport future while giving the community a voice in shaping better services for Western Sydney.
