Busways recently opened the doors of its Penrith Depot to AFL legend Robert ‘Dipper’ DiPierdomenico as part of an upcoming episode of Blue Collar Australia.

Dipper spent the day behind the scenes with the Busways team, meeting employees and getting a first-hand look at what goes into delivering public bus services each day.

Putting people behind the job

For Busways, the filming was about more than showcasing what the company does. It was an opportunity to put a face to the people behind the bus network and highlight the variety of skills, personalities and experiences that make up the industry.

Will O’Neill, Chief Executive Officer at Busways, said it was a great opportunity to showcase the people behind the organisation.

“It was fantastic to welcome Dipper to our Penrith Depot and give him a glimpse into the people and work behind Busways. He was really interested in meeting the team and learning more about what goes into keeping our communities moving.”

From safety and customer service to navigating busy roads and interacting with passengers, bus driving requires a wide range of skills and responsibilities.

The filming captured the people and teamwork behind Busways’ day-to-day operations, as well as the important role drivers and other employees play in helping passengers safely get where they need to go.
