Busways bus driver retires after 39 years

One of Busways' longest serving bus drivers Peter Perkins has hung up his hat for the last time, officially retiring after 39 years driving buses in the Clarence Valley region.

Peter worked at our Grafton depot on the NSW north coast for his entire career at the company, operating route, school and long-term charters. He was always well presented, had pride in his job and always offered quality customer service to his passengers.

"I've always loved receiving positive feedback from passengers and school children, it makes my day," Peter said of his time as a bus driver.

Service boost for Clarence Valley residents

Customers in and around Grafton, Maclean and Yamba will now benefit from an extra 41 weekly bus services to improve connectivity and better meet customer needs across the Clarence region.

Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said the services were being delivered as a part of the NSW Liberals and Nationals election commitment to improve transport options in 16 regional cities around the State.

From Saturday 19 December 2020 to Friday 26 November 2021 (weather permitting), Route 99 and school buses 2118, 2201, 2646 and 2658 will divert due to new load limits introduced on the culvert bridge on Flowers Drive, Catherine Hill Bay.

As a result, bus services are unable to travel on Flowers Dr (between Lindsley St and Pacific Hwy).

Temporary stand changes to Blacktown Interchange and Penrith Interchange

On Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September, at Blacktown Interchange and Penrith Interchange buses will depart from different stands to allow for the operation of rail replacement buses whilst track work is carried out on the on the main western line between The Blue Mountains and Central Station.

From Blacktown Interchange:

  • Routes 730, 731, 732, 734, 735 from Stand M will depart from Stand K.
  • Route 743 from Stand N will depart from Stand G.

From Penrith Interchange:
