Busways welcomes the NSW Government’s announcement that commuters across Greater Sydney can enjoy free fares during the upcoming Easter school holidays on all modes of transport for 12 days in a row.

Free travel includes train, bus, light rail, Metro and ferries covering Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, the Hunter and the Illawarra from 4am 14 April until 3.59am 26 April.

This provides family and friends the opportunity to get out and about and explore Greater Sydney or surrounds.

You'll still need to tap on and off with your Opal card or debit/credit card, but no fare will be charged.

For users of our Cooee Busways service, be aware that the On Demand travel credit is only applied when customers have taken a paid Opal trip within 60 minutes of travelling on an On Demand service. The On Demand travel credit will not apply during this free Opal period and On Demand services will remain a paid service.

Using a Busways bus, why not jump on a free 286 bus from Denistone East or 287 bus from Ryde which goes to Milsons Point. Enjoy a picnic at Bradfield Park (under the Harbour Bridge) which has spectacular views of Sydney Harbour. Afterward, use a NSW Parent Voucher and take the kids to Luna Park so they can go on a few rides or win a fun furry animal in one of the games.

Busways passengers can also take the 120 route from Chatswood to City QVB and use a Dine and Discover voucher to enjoy High Tea at the Tea Room QVB.

On Anzac Day, catch the same bus and walk down to Martin Place to attend the Dawn Service. Afterward, catch the light rail to Circular Quay and enjoy a beverage, meal or a game of two-up in one of the many pubs in The Rocks.

On Easter Monday, the Parramatta Eels are up against Wests Tigers at CommBank Stadium. This is a great family day out as the carnival-like precinct includes rides, games and free activities, and showbags for the kids. Busway services to Parramatta include the 523 route from West Ryde, the 521 route from Eastwood, the 524 route from Ryde, the 524 route from Strathfield and the 501 from Central Pitt St, Sydney via Victoria Rd.

If you’re planning on going to the Royal Easter Show, your transport to and from Sydney Olympic Park is already included. Catch the 525 Busways service from Parramatta to Strathfield via Sydney Olympic Park. Or jump on the 533 Busways service from Chatswood to Sydney Olympic Park via Rhodes.
