Rescued goats take on greenery at Ryde Depot
3 September, 2025
Keeping depots tidy just got a whole lot greener - and a lot cuter! Busways has welcomed a team of rescue goats to its Ryde Bus Depot to clear stubborn overgrown vegetation.
Rather than using traditional machinery, these environmentally friendly “mowers” munch their way through the greenery, helping to maintain the site while enjoying an all-you-can-eat buffet. . Partnering with Central Coast group Flocking Adorable, Busways introduced the four-legged landscapers as a natural way to restore the site.
The “Goat Squad” got straight to work, happily grazing through the dense weeds and completing the tough task in less than a week.
“It’s practical, fun, and good for the environment,” said Suzanne Mildren, Sustainability Manager at Busways. "Seeing the goats at work showed us that the simplest ideas can often be the most effective and good for the environment."
The goats’ visit is part of Busways’ approach to finding practical, eco-friendly ways to manage its operations
