New rules for scooters on Busways buses in NSW

From 1 October 2023, any customer in NSW wishing to board a Busways bus with a scooter must fold the scooter and store it in the luggage rack.

Both scooters and e-scooters that fold are allowed on board. For safety and to avoid inconvenience to other passengers, if the bus is very full, it might not be possible for you to board even if your scooter is foldable. Please respectfully obey any directions from our driver.

Exceptions on rail replacement services:

If the bus is a rail replacement service that is wheelchair accessible (low-floor), you can still bring a full size bike or unfolded scooter on board.  This is to ensure passengers who travelled on the train with their bike or scooter are able to travel on their return journey.

Again, if the bus is very full or the bus driver believes it will impact safety or other passengers, our drivers may ask you to wait for another rail replacement service which has more room.

Bikes and Mobility Scooters

The rules for bicycles and mobility scooters remain unchanged.

Let’s all travel safely together!
