Credit card payment system now live for Busways’ North Coast customers

Cashless payment

Busways’ North Coast customers now have the option to pay with their credit or debit card when boarding a service for the first time ever after the installation of Commonwealth Bank EFTPOS machines.

Busways began working towards cashless payments on our mid-north coast fleet in mid-2018 as a way to provide rural and regional residents with the option to pay by card the way Sydney and Central Coast residents pay using Opal.

Up until now, residents in rural areas were only able to pay for their ride with cash. Over 280 buses will eventually be fitted with the cashless payment devices.

Residents in Coffs Harbour, Macksville, Raleigh, Port Macquarie, Wauhope, Kempsey, Laurieton, Bulahdelah, Heatherbrae, Grafton and Yamba regions all now accept EFTPOS.

Busways customers can pay using:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • Debit card

Card payments that are not accepted include:

  • Amex
  • Diners Club

Cash payments will still be accepted on all services.
