Busways drivers support Port Macquarie RSL ANZAC commemorations for 11th year

For 11 years three Busways drivers have spent ANZAC Day the same way – by driving Port Macquarie Veterans and their families to and from the Port Macquarie ANZAC commemorations.

Busways provides three shuttle bus services each year for the ANZAC Day service, something the sub-branch Honorary Secretary says is vital for the community.

“Busways’ involvement is vital to the smooth running of the services and is very much appreciated,” Gary Spencer said. “We thank Busways for its ongoing support each and every year.”

Port Macquarie Depot Manager, Francis Maurer, said drivers Kath Curry, Barry Ryan and Wayne Hopwood have done the community proud for over 10 years by volunteering their time.

“All of us here at the Port Macquarie depot are grateful and proud of their selfless contribution to our Veterans and their families,” he said.

“They volunteer their time and skills to provide this essential service every year and we couldn’t appreciate it more.”
