    Accessible Public Transport

Busways is focused on providing accessible transport services for all sections of the community including people with a disability, older persons, children, students and commuters.

Our fleet includes easy access (wheelchair accessible/low floor) buses for people with reduced mobility; these buses have no steps, so getting into and out of our buses is easier for everyone.

Busways is committed to meeting the NSW governments and Disability Discrimination Act targets for 'easy access' services; 55% of Busways services will be 'easy access' by 2012 and will have increased to 80% by the end of 2017. In 2022 all of our services will be operated by low floor easy access buses.

    Mobility Aids on Busways Services

Busways' accessible buses have been designed to comply with the national standards for mobility aids.

Mobility aids such as walkers, walking aids, wheelchairs and electronic wheelchairs are welcome on Busways services however it should be noted that electric scooters are not able to be carried on Busways low floor services.

    Visually Impaired Passengers

Most Busways drivers have been trained by Guide Dogs Australia.

Guide Dogs Australia have trained our drivers on the best way to help vision impaired and disabled passengers and are ready, willing and able to help passengers when necessary.

Free travel for visually impaired passengers and their attendant is available; please ensure you show the driver your Vision Impaired Persons Pass.
