Opal is the smartcard ticketing system used to pay for travel on our Sydney and Central Coast services.

Opal single bus tickets

If you don’t have an Opal card, Opal single bus tickets can be purchased from the driver (except on PrePay buses).

Regional tickets and fares

A number of ticket options are available for customers in the North Coast region depending on how far and often you travel.

Eligible concession card holders can also access discounted bus fares on our services.

The Opal card is not accepted on rural and regional bus services.

Rural and Regional bus fares

Bus fares are determined by the number of sections travelled for a trip. If you know how many sections your trip entails, you can find out the cost of your bus trip by using the fare tables below.

One section equals approximately 1.6km. If you don’t know how many sections your trip is but want to know the exact fare, contact us using our General Enquiry Form.

Ticket types

To travel on our buses in the North Coast region you need a valid bus ticket. Tickets can be paid for using contactless payments or cash. It will help the driver if you have the correct or small change ready.

Single tickets

Single tickets allow for a one trip from the origin to the destination.

Return tickets

Return tickets allow for travel from the origin to the destination and back to the origin again.

Daily ticket

A daily ticket allows for unlimited travel for the sections and fare bands purchased for that day of travel. This ticket is a handy option if you need to make several trips within certain sections within a day.

Weekly ticket

A weekly ticket allows for unlimited travel for 7 days from purchase for the fare bands purchased. This ticket is a handy option if you need to make several trips within certain sections within a week.

Concession tickets

Eligible concession card holders can purchase concession fares for the Single ticket, Return ticket, Daily ticket and the Weekly ticket.

Transfer ticket

Transfer tickets allow customers to transfer from one bus service to another and are a cheaper option than buying two tickets. Customers should ask for a Transfer ticket when boarding their first bus if they intend to transfer buses.

Transfer ticket conditions

  • Transfer tickets include 1.5 hour transfer time and must be made to the first available bus from when the transfer ticket was issued.
  • Transfer tickets cannot be used for broken or return journeys.
  • Transfers to other bus operators are permitted.
Regional Excursion Daily ticket

Regional Excursion Daily (RED) tickets provide eligible concession card holders with unlimited daily travel within our rural and regional networks for just $2.50.

The ticket is valid until midnight on the day of purchase and is available to buy from the driver on the first bus you catch.
