Curtis Landers: Road to Recovery

05 Aug 2014

On Sunday 25th July Busways took a bus load of Curtis Landers’s team mates from Forster Tuncurry down to Westmead Children’s Hospital to visit Curtis where he is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

The NRL also got on board and invited Curtis and his team to the Tigers v Bull dogs match and Busways were happy to get them all there.

The day went well as you can see from the photos of the day, Curtis’s smile lit up the stadium, a stadium filled with people who had come out to support the “Rise for Alex” round, which was to support Alex McKinnon, a Newcastle Knights player who suffered the same injury as Curtis just two weeks prior to Curtis.

The Port Macquarie community were also rocked with the tragedy of Curtis’s injury, which occurred on their local ground and when they heard about the charity auction being held at Club Forster on Thursday 31st July to raise money for Curtis’s recovery, they approached Busways to see if we could help with transporting them down to the auction night, Busways generously obliged and Belinda Button from Port Macquarie depot happily put her name in to lend a hand driving the bus. So far, the Curtis Landers: Road to Recovery campaign have graciously raised over $250,000 which will go a long way in helping Curtis and his family on his Road to Recovery.

Busways wishes Curtis and Alex well in their recoveries and sends them strength and well wishes on their journeys.
