Busways wins a 300-bus contract in Western Sydney
07 Nov 2012
Busways is proud to announce our successful tender for the provision of bus services in Sydney’s bus Contract 1 which includes Blacktown, Penrith, Richmond and Windsor areas.
The 300 bus multi-million dollar contract will see Busways taking over services in the Penrith/Richmond/Windsor areas from October 2013, as well as continuing to operate services in the Blacktown Mt Druitt area.
Busways competed against local and overseas companies to win the contract. Busways’ Chief Executive George Tisse attributes its success to a strong commitment to customers and service reliability.
“Busways has the best on-time running record of all Sydney bus operators” Mr Tisse said.
“The awarding of this contract is a vote of confidence in Busways by the NSW Government and recognition of our commitment to providing quality services to the community. We look forward to providing all the residents served by Contract 1, including Penrith, Richmond and Windsor, with quality customer focused bus services."
Busways is working with Transport for NSW to ensure customers experience a smooth transition between the old and new contract arrangements. All staff entitlements for transferring employees will be carried over.
Busways is a 100% Australian owned company that has been providing services in and around Blacktown for over 70 years. With the new contract, Busways will have a fleet of 850 buses and 1,400 staff providing bus services in Sydney, the Central Coast and NSW North Coast, carrying more than 40 million passengers per year.
